Crochet a #1 Dad Bookmark...


Materials:
Size 10 thread
Hook 1.5 mm conversion chart
Needle to weave in ends.

Abbreviations:
ch: chain
sl: slip
st: stitch
dc: double crochet
sc: single crochet
RS: right side
WS: wrong side
sm: solid mesh
om: open mesh

IMPORTANT NOTES:
1. The bookmark is worked from A to B in the direction of the arrow. ( see Fig 1 )
2. Each square with "X" = 1 sm (solid mesh or block) = 3dc
3. Each empty square = 1 om (open mesh or block) = dc, ch 1, dc
4. Row 1 indicated on graph
5. Make sure to work all right side rows from right to left and all wrong side rows from left to right.

Instructions:

Row 1: Ch 73, dc in 4th chain from hook; dc in each st across.
Ch 3 (counts as first dc of next row), turn. Mark this row as RS row. (35 solid meshes)
Row 2-11: Follow graph as indicated making sure to work [ch 3 (counts as first dc in next row), turn ] at end of each row.
Row 12: Dc in each st across. Fasten off.

Edging:


Rnd 1: With RS facing and using Fig 2 as a guide attach thread with sl st in first st of side BC; work 3 sc in same st as joining;(makes corner 1); sc in each st across side BC to last st of this side; work 3 sc in last st of side BC (makes corner 2);  work 20 sts evenly across side CD; work 3 sc in first side of DA; sc in each st across to last st of thie side; work 3 sc in last st (makes corner 4); work 20 sts evenly spaced up last side of bookmark. (side AB); join with sl st to first st.
Rnd 2: sl st in each st around; join with sl st to first st.
Fasten off.
Weave in end.
