Get Over Comparison

Comparing oneself with others can work as a deadly poison. Usually comparison brings sorrow and frustration. It is not a helpful vitamin for growth. Rather it causes low self-esteem and poor self-image.

Normally parents say they compare their children with other children to challenge their own children. But the fact is children will never get encouraged by comparison!

Appreciation brings encouragement. It is human nature that when we compare ourselves with others, we start hating our God given blessings and even life itself. Beware of comparison. Some have ruined their whole life by comparing themselves with others.

God has created all of us different and with unique purposes. When we start functioning on our uniqueness, it pleases God and He blesses us more. As we read in the parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14-29), we must learn to be faithful in what God has given us. When we become satisfied with our life, God’s favor will be upon us. God never wants His children to murmur against their lives.

Those who compare themselves with others start comparing others with another person. It is a kind of judgemental attitude.

Paul says in 2 Corinthians 10:12, “we do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise.”

When you compare yourself with others, you will become bitter or vain because there will always be people better or worse than you – (John Mason).

It’s better to be the unique person as God created each one of us to be than tormenting ourselves to become like another person!
