While original ugg boots are made of sheepskin, we've opted for a more animal friendly alternative for this adorable project. Knitted in wonderfully soft baby alpaca yarn these three designs are really cosy and perfect for the winter. Alpaca fibres are hollow so have great natural insulation. Choose from plain stocking stitch, picot edged or fisherman’s rib versions. Uggs are unisex so these little boots would be well suited for bouncing baby boys and girls.

TO MAKE UP
NOTE: each sole is made up of a left and right sole sewn together
OZZIE
Weave in all ends. Using one left and one right sole as templates, cut wadding slightly smaller than knitting.
Place soles with WS together and sandwich wadding between. Sew around edge of sole. With WS together join one left and one right toe section, matching shapings and oversewing edges.
Pin toe section to sole and sewing through all layers using backstitch. Place back leg sections with WS together and mattress stitch one long top edge and oversew remaining edges.
Pin bottom edge around heel of sole and sew. Stitch row ends of toe section to sides of back leg section forming a visible seam as shown. With WS together, sew front leg sections in same way as for back sections. Pin one short edge to the inside leg side of back leg section and sew, continuing visible seam.
Neatly join lower edge of front leg section to top edge of toe section. Wrap remaining edge of front section over back leg, and sew in place. Attach buttons for decoration. Repeat for other boot to match
PIPER
Make up as above but fold front leg sections in half at picot row and oversew edges. Fold top edge at picot row and sew to top edge. Attach to boot so stocking stitch runs horizontally and picot is at front. Complete as above
BLAKE
Make up soles as above. Make up toe section as above but placing ribbed section uppermost. For back and front leg sections, oversew pieces with WS together, ensuring stocking stitch runs vertically and is on inside of boot. Rib will run horizontally. Complete as above.
