KNIT WISE BOOTEE CONSTRUCTION
Our Chatsworth bootees are worked flat on straight needles rather than in the round. This makes them easier for beginners but it is less easy to see how they take shape. Knit the leg section then leave 16 sts on holders at the beginning and end of the row, as instructed. Work the top of the foot on the remaining 11 sts. Return to the sts on one holder and pick up and k more sts down the side edge of the section just worked. Using the same needle, k the instep sts already on the LH needle, then pick up and k more sts down the other side edge of the instep, and finally k the sts from the remaining holder. Working across all these sts, shape the toe and sole sections. Sew up the back of the heel and leg to finish.
