White Hooded Capelet

Stay warm with this hooded capelet.


What You Need:
  • Skye from Colinette 100% wool; 3 1/2 oz. (100g); 152 yds. (138m); worsted weight, 
  • Undyed (A) Fandango from Colinette 100% wool; 3 1/2 oz. (100g); 110 yds. (100m); bulky weight, Undyed (B) 
  • Size 9 (5.5mm) needles OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE 
  • Size 8 (5mm) 24-inch (60mm) circular needle 
  • Size 10 1/2 (6.5mm) 24-inch (60cm) circular needle 
  • Size J/10 (6mm) crochet hook 
  • Blunt-end yarn needle 
  • Stitch holder 
  • Stitch marker 
  • 3 balls (A), 1 ball (B), circumference at lower edge = 45 inches Prep
Gauge 18 sts and 22 rows = 4 inches (10cm) in St st with A using Size 9 needles. TAKE TIME TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.

White Hooded Capelet:
Seed StitchOver even number of sts; a multiple of 2 sts
Row 1 (RS): *K1, p1; rep from * to end.
Row 2: *P1, k1; rep from * to end. Rep Rows 1 and 2 to form Seed st.
Seed StitchOver odd number of sts; a multiple of 2 sts + 1.
Row 1 (RS): *K1, p1; rep from * across row. Rep this row to form Seed st.Loop Stitch Row 1 (RS): K1, * knit next st but do not take st off left needle (you now have new st on RH needle and original st on LH needle); bring yarn to front bet needles, down and around left thumb, hold loop in place with thumb; bring yarn back bet needles and knit into st on LH needle again (you now have 2 new sts on RH needle and original st on LH needle); slip original st off LH needle; pass first new st over second new st to secure loop; rep from * across to last st; k1.
Row 2: Purl. Rep Rows 1 and 2 for Loop st.Capelet BodyWith smallest needle and A, cast on 200 sts; place marker; join to form rnd, taking care not to twist sts. Work Seed st for 1 inch. Change to Size 9 needles and knit each rnd until piece measures 4 inches from beg.
Rnd 1-Dec rnd: *K2tog, k3; rep from * around -- 160 sts.
Next 9 rnds: Knit.
Rnd 11-Dec rnd: *K2tog, k2; rep from * around -- 120 sts.
Next 9 rnds: Knit.
Rnd 21-Dec rnd: *K2tog, k1; rep from * around -- 80 sts.
Next 6 rnds: Knit.HoodBeg to work back and forth in rows.
Row 1 (RS): Bind off 5 sts. Work rem 75 sts in Seed st.
Row 2: (WS): Bind off 5 sts. Work rem 70 sts in Seed st until hood measures 10 inches from bind-off row. Bind off 23 sts at beg of next 2 rows -- 24 sts. Work even until this 24-st section measures same as the 23-st bound-off edge. Place these 24 sts on holder. Sew hood seams (sew side edges of 24-st section to 23-st bound-off edges).Loop Stitch BorderWith RS facing and using Size 10 1/2 needle and B, pick up and k90 sts along front edge of hood including sts on holder. Working back and forth, work 10 rows of Loop st. Bind off.DrawstringsWith crochet hook and B, make a 45-inch chain. Fasten off.Medallions (make 2)With crochet hook and B, ch 3. Work 6 dc in 3rd ch from hook. Fasten off. Sew Medallions to ends of Drawstring.FinishingWith RS of hood facing up, lay Drawstring across Loop St Border; fold Border over Drawstring. Sew bound-off edge of Border to RS of hood along last knit rnd to encase Drawstring.
