Crocheting Rocks.......the latest addiction.

You can't make just one!
Crocheting ROCKS!
You will need:
  • Size 7 steel crochet hook 
  • Size 10 crochet cotton 
  • A nicely shaped, small, smooth, rock 

Don't worry about gauge. In fact, don't worry very much about this pattern. Your covered rock should look quaint, but not over-planned.

Ch 7.

Dc in first ch. *Ch 3, dc* 5 times in same ch. Dc in 3rd ch from beginning ch.

Round 1: Over last dc and in each ch-3 around: *1 sc, 1 hdc, 3 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc.* 6 petals made.

Round 2: Ch 3. Working behind petal, sc around post of middle dc. *Ch 5, sc around post of middle dc of next petal* 5 times. Ch 5.

Round 3: *1 sc, 1 hdc, 5 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc* over each Ch 5 space around.

Round 4: Ch 5. Working behind petal, sc around post of middle dc. *Ch 7, sc around post of middle dc of next petal* 5 times. Ch 7.

Round 5: *1 sc, 1 hdc, 7 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc* over each ch-7 space around.

Round 6: *Sc in center dc of 5-dc petal below. Ch 5, sc in 2nd dc of 7-dc petal, ch 5, sc in 5th dc of 7-dc petal, ch 5* 5 times. Sc in center dc of 5-dc petal below. Ch 5, sc in 2nd dc of 7-dc petal, ch 5, sc in 5th dc of 7-dc petal, ch 2, dc in 1st st of round.

Round 7: Ch 5, sc in next ch-5 sp. Continue around, ending with ch 2, dc in first dc.

Repeat Round 7 until doily is about the same diameter as rock. Doily will start to curve. Cover the rock with doily. Continue to work Round 7, skipping some spaces to make the doily fit tightly over the rock. Tie off when doily is secure.
