Little Red Riding Hood Doll Pattern

Material:
  • “Puritan” Crochet Cotton Article 40, 1 ball White, 1 ball Red, 7 or 8 in steel 7, OR
  • DeLuxe” Crochet Cotton Article 346,1 ball White,1 ball Red, 7 or 8 in steel 7, OR
  • Dawn” Knitting Worsted Article W 11 or W 41, 5 ozs Scarlet, 6 ozs White, 6 in plastic G or 5
  • 3 buttons
  • 1 yd narrow Red ribbon
DRESS
SKIRT-Starting at waistline with White ch 41, s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each remaining st of ch, ch 4, turn.
2nd Row-1 d c, ch 1, 1 d c in next s c, * ch 1, 1 d c, ch 1, 1 d c in next s c, repeat from * across row, ch 4, turn.
3rd Row-1 d c, ch 1, 1 d c in next d c, * ch 1, 1 d c, ch 1, 1 d c in next d c, repeat from * across row ending row with ch 1, d c in 3rd st of end ch, then join in 3rd st of 1 st ch 4.
4th Row-Ch 5, d c in same space, * ch 1, skip 1 loop, 1 d c, ch 2, 1 d c (shell) in next loop, repeat from * all around, ch 1, join in 3rd st of ch.
5th Round-Sl st into shell, ch 5, d c in same space, * ch 1, skip the ch 1 loop, 1 d c, ch 2, 1 d c in center of next shell, repeat from * all around, ch 1, join in 3rd st of ch. Repeat the last round 8 times, cut thread.

EDGE-Attach Red in shell, 2 s c in same space, ch 2, sl st in top of last s c for picot, 1 s c in same space, * 2 s c in next ch 1 loop, 2 s c, picot, 1 s c in next shell, repeat from * all around ending round with 2 s c in next ch 1 loop, join, cut thread.

BODICE-Attach White in 1st st of band, ch 3 and work 1 d c in each s c, ch 3, turn.
2nd Row-Working through front loop of sts, work 1 d c in each of the next 3 d c, 2 d c in next d c, * 1 d c in each of the next 4 d c, 2 d c in next d c, repeat from * across row working 1 d c in each of the last 5 d c, ch 3, turn.
3rd Row-Working through back loop of sts, work 1 d c in each d c (47 d c), ch 3, turn.
4th Row-Working through front loop of sts, 1 d c in each of the next 6 d c, ch 8, skip 7 d c, 1 d c in each of the next 19 d c, ch 8, skip 7 d c, 1 d c in each of the next 7 d c, ch 1, turn.
5th Row-Working through back loop of sts, 1 s c in each d c working rather tightly and 1 s c in each st of ch, ch 6, sl st in same space for button loop, then work a row of s c around back opening working another button loop at lower edge of bodice on same side as top loop, cut thread.
Sew buttons in position.
SLEEVE-Attach White in 1st st at lower edge of armhole and working through back loop of sts, work 1 s c in same space, 1 s c in each of the next 6 d c, 2 s c in next row, then working on opposite side of ch, 1 d c in each of the next 8 sts at top of armhole, 2 s c in next row, join, ch l, turn.
Next Row-Working through front loop of sts, * 1 s c in each of the next 2 sts, ch 2, sl st in top of last s c for picot, repeat from * 4 times, sl st in next st, cut thread. Work other sleeve in same manner.

PANTALETTES
With White ch 44, d c in 4th st from hook, 1 d c in each remaining st of ch, ch 3, turn.
2nd Row-Working through back loop of sts, work l d c in each d c (right side of work), join in 3rd st of ch.
3rd Row-Ch 3, turn, working through front loop of sts work 1 d c in each of the next 4 d c, 2 d c in next d c, * 1 d c in each of the next 5 d c, 2 d c in next d c, repeat from * 4 times, 1 d c in each of the next 6 sts, join in 3rd st of ch (48 d c), ch 3, turn. The rows with even numbers are worked in back loop of sts and the odd number rows are worked in front loop of sts throughout.
4th & 5th Rows-l d c in each d c, join, cut thread.
6th Row-Attach thread in l3th st from joining on right side, ch 3, 1 d c in each of the next 23 d c, join in 3rd st of ch, ch 3, turn.
7th Row-1 d c in each d c, join, ch 3, turn. Repeat the last row 6 times, join, turn.
14th Row-Ch 5, d c in same space, * 1 d c, ch 2, 1 d c in next d c, repeat from * all around, join in 3rd st of ch, cut thread.
Attach Red in the ch 2 loop, 2 s c in same space, ch 2, sl st in top of last s c for picot, s c in same space, * ch l , 2 s c, ch 2 picot, 1 s c in next ch 2 loop, repeat from * all around, ch 2, join, cut thread.
Attach White at crotch and work other leg in same manner. With White work a row of s c around top and side opening working a ch 6 button loop on one side. Sew button in position.
Lace ribbon through 13th row of each leg.

CAPE AND HOOD
Starting at hood with Red ch 48, d c in 4th st from hook, 1 d c in each remaining st of ch, ch 3, turn.
2nd Row-Working through front loop of sts, 1 d c in each d c, ch 3, turn.
3rd Row-Working through back loop of sts, 1 d c in each d c, ch 3, turn.
Repeat the last 2 rows once.
6th Row-Same as 2nd row but ch 1 to turn.
7th Row-Working through back loop of sts, 1 s c in each d c, join in 1 st s c, do not turn.
8th Round-Working through back loop of sts for remainder of hood, work * 1 s c in each of the next 4 s c, decrease in next 2 s c, (to decrease: * insert hook in next st, pull loop through, repeat from * once, thread over and pull through all loops at one time), repeat from * all around, join.
9th Round-* S c in next st, decrease in next 2 sts, repeat from * all around. Without joining rounds work 3 more rounds same as 9th round, cut thread leaving an end.
Thread into needle and draw opening together on wrong side.
With right side of work toward you, attach Red at lower edge and working across neck edge, work 2 d c in each row and 1 d c in base of each row and 2 d c at center (38 d c), ch 3, turn.
2nd Row-Working through front loop of sts, 1 d c in each of the next 3 d c, 2 d c in next d c, * 1 d c in each of the next 4 d c, 2 d c in next d c, repeat from * across row ending row with 1 d c in each of the next 3 sts, ch 3, turn.
3rd Row-Working through back loop of sts, work same as last row working 1 d c in each of the last 5 sts, ch 3, turn. The even numbered rows are worked through front loop of sts and the odd numbered rows are worked through back loop of sts for remainder of cape.
4th & 5th Rows-Working in d c increase in every 3rd d c, ch 3 to turn all rows.
Next 2 Rows-Work even.
8th Row-Increase in every 4th d c, then work 2 rows even.
11th Row-Same as 8th row, then work 4 rows even, cut thread.

RUFFLE OF HOOD-With wrong side toward you, attach thread at neck edge, working across front of hood work 1 s c in each of the next 4 sts, 1 s d c in each of the next 5 sts (s d c: thread over hook, insert in st, pull loop through, thread over and pull through all loops at one time), d c in next st, 3 d c in each of the next 26 sts, d c in next st, 1 s d c in each of the next 5 sts, 1 s c in each of the next 3 sts, sl st in next st, ch 1, turn.
Next Row-Skip the sl st, working in front loop of sts, work 1 s c in each s c, 1 s d c in each s d c, 1 d c in each d c across row, sl st in last st, ch 1, turn.
Next Row-Working through back loop of sts, * 1 s c in each of the next 4 sts, ch 2, sl st in top of last s c for picot, repeat from * across front of hood, cut thread. Attach thread at opposite side of neck and work a row of s c around remainder of cape spacing picots same as on hood, join, cut thread. Lace ribbon through row at neckline.
